OLTD Program Outcomes Addressed:
The piece of evidence I have selected is my Google Apps for Education resource package that I created in OLTD506. This package was a combination of a number of assignments related to investigating and utilizing Google Apps for Education in my classroom. It includes activity ideas and a permission slip.
The process of creating this resource package caused me to consider the implications of a variety of laws and policies surrounding British Columbia, as well as my own school. By considering how best to implement Google Apps in the school and what process must be taken I was better able to understand the distinct differences between myself and other teachers in terms of the policies and steps required. Furthermore, by creating the resource package to include potential activities, I have delved deeper into the tool and created some excellent learning opportunities for my students. By sharing this with others and creating a basic resource package I hope to have impacted others and provided some form of service to developing programs hoping to implement Google Apps for Education.
Understanding the legal requirements surrounding using a tool in the classroom is a vital experience that all teachers should engage in. Throughout the creation of this tool I have gained a better understanding of how to work with families to alleviate fears surrounding where their child’s information is stored and how to best outline what will be done with this information. It is important that I continue to evaluate the responsible use of technology throughout my time in the OLTD program, as well as, obviously, my time in the classroom.
