OLTD Program Outcome Addressed
The evidence piece I have selected is my final assessment of learning for OLTD506. This assessment took the form of a research paper written in full APA style. It was designed to consider what I had learned throughout the course and the degree to which I had learned it.
The entire course gave me an excellent perspective on the many facets of digital citizenship and the creation of this paper cemented those ideas into a coherent artifact. From considering the various legal implications of the laws in BC to the ideas of digital literacy and where our information is stored, the entire course, and this paper, created a number of learning opportunities. I was able to cement my understanding of the legalities surrounding my own position and the tools that I was able to utilize with my students, which was an invaluable experience.
It is vitally important that teachers in general, and myself in particular, understand the legal and social implications of utilizing online tools. In my role as a technology leader and mentor to others I feel that addressing these learning outcomes was valuable for my ongoing professional development. As always, the process of reading, considering and writing an APA paper will continue to assist me throughout the OLTD program and through my masters project.
- Scaffold digital citizenship from K-12 to professional level of educators
- Consider responsibility, accountability and civility in online environments
- Examine current research around best practices and emerging practices
